On Saturday, Greece and the Western Balkans were hit by devastating wildfires as a third heat wave hit Greece. Firefighters intervened in areas such as Drosopigi and Evia, where blazes caused evacuations and injuries. Temperatures reached 44 degrees Celsius and 26 fires broke out across Albania, forcing the evacuation of 2,000 people. Drought conditions and strong winds have worsened the situation, and fires have become more frequent and destructive due to climate change.
