The fire that broke out in Aude has devastated 16,000 hectares, killing one person and leaving three others missing. More than 2,500 firefighters and unprecedented aerial resources are mobilized to control the blaze affecting 15 communes. The president of the European Commission offered her support, stressing the gravity of the situation. In Spain, a heatwave led to the deaths of more than 1,000 people in July and fire risks remain high.
