Wildfires are raging in Greece, Turkey, Bulgaria, Albania, Italy, Turkey, Bulgaria and Albania in extreme heat. Turkey has reached a record 50.5 degrees Celsius and Bulgaria has activated the European civil protection mechanism, asking for international help. Romania sent a Black Hawk helicopter to put out the fires. Hundreds of tourists in Sardinia have been evacuated due to a fire, and there are more than 90 active outbreaks in Bulgaria. Authorities in Albania are mobilizing 1,000 firefighters to fight almost 20 active fires. The fires have destroyed thousands of hectares of vegetation and homes.
