A powerful fire broke out in an electronics store on Union Street, next to Glasgow Central Station, on Sunday afternoon, causing the partial collapse of the Victorian building.

The flames spread rapidly, and all rail services were canceled, with the station remaining closed until further notice. Over 60 firefighters and 15 vehicles responded to extinguish the fire, which was described by witnesses as catastrophic. Although no casualties were reported, the building known as Union Corner, dating from 1851, was destroyed, affecting local businesses, including a café and a hair salon. Authorities urged people to avoid the area, and the police instituted traffic diversions. Prime Minister John Swinney expressed concern over the incident, and ScotRail announced that passengers would have limited transport options.
