On Monday evening, an explosion of a car near the metro station next to the Red Fort monument in New Delhi resulted in the death of at least 10 people and seriously injured over 30, according to medical sources cited by CNN. The incident occurred around 6:42 PM when a vehicle moving slowly stopped at a red traffic light, at which point the explosion took place. The Delhi police commissioner, Satish Golcha, stated that both the passengers in the vehicle and the people in surrounding vehicles were affected.

Emergency crews responded quickly, extinguishing the fire that engulfed at least six vehicles and three motor rickshaws. Images after the explosion showed a wave of people rushing to the scene, where huge flames were rising into the sky. The police have opened an investigation to determine the cause of the explosion, which remains unknown. The Red Fort, a historic symbol of India, is a popular tourist spot, making the incident even more alarming.
