A provisional toll of the earthquake victims in Venezuela indicates 235 dead and at least 4,300 injured, according to the Minister of Health.

In the aftermath of these devastating events, the UN is coordinating the mobilization of search and rescue teams from around the world, allocating 15 million dollars from an emergency fund. The US military has announced that it will increase the personnel deployed in Venezuela to support relief efforts, including sending ships and rescue teams. Internet connectivity in Venezuela remains below normal levels, hindering rescue efforts. Over 70,000 families in La Guaira state have been affected, and the government has increased the number of personnel mobilized for intervention.

The two earthquakes, measuring 7.2 and 7.5, occurred on Wednesday, being the strongest since 1900, causing significant destruction in Caracas and surrounding areas. Rescue efforts continue, but many people remain missing under the rubble.
