2,900 deaths after the double earthquake in Venezuela. UN: 50,000 people are missing.

Two devastating earthquakes that occurred on June 24 in Venezuela have caused at least 2,954 deaths and 16,592 injuries, according to the provisional report presented by the interim government.

Over 16,000 people have been left homeless, and 856 buildings have been damaged, with the Ministry of Communications reporting an alarming situation, without providing details about missing persons, UN estimates indicating up to 50,000 missing.

The earthquakes, with a magnitude of 7.5, occurred 39 seconds apart, particularly affecting the northern part of the country, with severe damage in La Guaira, where many buildings were completely destroyed. Caracas also suffered damage, but it was less severe.

These earthquakes are considered the strongest in the last century in Venezuela, a country already affected by a deep economic crisis.
