Lars Lokke Rasmussen, the Danish Foreign Minister, stated that the desire of American President Donald Trump to buy Greenland remains 'intact', despite his assurances that he will not use force to obtain the territory.

Rasmussen emphasized that, although Trump claimed that Denmark cannot protect Greenland, this does not make the issue disappear. Trump has called for immediate negotiations for the purchase of the island, insisting that the U.S. is the only power capable of defending it. During a parliamentary hearing, Rasmussen reaffirmed that Greenland is not for sale, emphasizing that 'human beings are not negotiable' and that discussions will be held to address American concerns without crossing 'red lines'.
