Denmark wants to expand recruitment of women into the army and increase the length of military service from 4 months to 11 months for both sexes.

On Wednesday, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen emphasized that the aim is not to prepare for war, but to avoid it. Denmark currently has up to 9,000 professional troops and 4,700 recruits in basic training. The new proposal aims to bring in another 5,000 recruits.
