Delta Air Lines has begun the procedures for registering the 'Delta' brand with the State Office for Inventions and Trademarks (OSIM) in Romania, which could indicate a return to the Romanian market.

The application was submitted at the end of October 2025. The company previously operated direct flights between Bucharest and New York since 2007, but suspended the route in 2009 due to the economic crisis and competition. Currently, there are no direct flights from American companies, and trademark registration could facilitate the opening of a local office, promotional campaigns, and later, the resumption of flights. Currently, the only direct flights between Romania and the USA are operated by HiSky, which will expand operations to Chicago in 2026.
