<p>Colombia's Environment Ministry announced a 33% decrease in deforestation in the first quarter of 2025 compared to the same period in 2024, down from 40,219 hectares to 27,000 hectares. The progress is due to an integrated government plan and collaboration with local communities. Although deforestation has decreased, pressure on protected areas remains high due to illegal coca cultivation and unauthorized mining.
