The Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen stated that American President Donald Trump should be taken seriously regarding his desire to take control of Greenland. Frederiksen emphasized that both Copenhagen and Greenland have clearly rejected this ambition.

In an interview with the Danish public broadcaster DR, she stated that Greenland has repeatedly expressed that it does not wish to become part of the United States. The Prime Minister also commented that, in the event that the United States were to attack another NATO country, all relations would be affected. Trump recently reiterated that Greenland is important for the national security of the United States and called for a discussion on this topic in the near future.
