The French are eagerly awaiting the court's verdict that will determine whether Marine Le Pen, the leader of the National Rally (RN) party, can run in the 2024 presidential elections. If the Paris Court of Appeal confirms the previous verdict, Le Pen will be declared ineligible due to the abusive use of European parliamentary funds.

This would pave the way for Jordan Bardella, a 30-year-old young politician, to become the RN candidate.

Le Pen was sentenced to two years in prison suspended and five years of ineligibility, and her lawyer argues that the decision is political. The court will decide whether to uphold or overturn this ruling, and the possibility of an intermediate penalty could influence her candidacy.

While some speculate that Le Pen may resign herself to the situation, others believe she will continue to fight to stay in the race. The verdict will have a significant impact on the elections next spring, and the differences between Le Pen and Bardella could influence the RN's electoral strategy.
