The International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague has requested a secret arrest warrant for Bezalel Smotrich, the Israeli finance minister and far-right politician.
Smotrich stated on Tuesday that he was informed about the ICC's request on Monday evening, but he refused to disclose the source of the information or the reasons cited by the court.
The procedure for such requests is confidential, and the prosecution can ask judges to approve the request if there are sufficient suspicions of crimes.
Smotrich characterized the arrest warrants against Israeli government officials as a "declaration of war" from the Palestinian Authority.
