The COP30 conference, the 30th annual edition of the UN on climate change, is taking place in Belem, Brazil, with approximately 50,000 participants from over 190 countries. The discussions focus on reducing the climate crisis and the devastating impact of extreme phenomena, such as droughts and floods. Ten years after the Paris Agreement, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres highlighted the failure to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius, warning that this threshold will soon be exceeded.
Former Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon urged the United States to return to the Paris Agreement, emphasizing the importance of leadership in combating climate change. Although the White House will not send high-ranking officials, discussions will continue with the aim of mobilizing funds for poorer countries affected by climate change.
