Two commercial vessels under the flags of Panama and Saint Kitts and Nevis were attacked on the night of June 18 to 19 by Russian drones in the Black Sea, while they were heading towards the exit from Ukrainian ports.
According to the governor of the Odesa region, Oleg Kiper, one crew member of the Panama-registered vessel was killed, and two other sailors were injured, one of them in serious condition. The other vessel, under the flag of Saint Kitts and Nevis, also suffered damage, with three crew members reporting minor injuries.
Deputy Prime Minister Oleksii Kuleba stated that these attacks demonstrate Russia's aggression against the freedom of navigation and international trade. Despite the incident, both vessels continued their journey, and the port infrastructure remains operational.
Ukrainian authorities recalled a similar incident on June 10, which did not result in casualties.
