At least 132 people have died and 570 have been injured as a result of the earthquake that occurred on Monday morning in western Colombia. Five capital cities in the country are on red alert, 86 buildings have collapsed, and several airports have suspended operations.
Emergency response teams are rushing to rescue people from the rubble. Among the collapsed structures are the pediatrics and neonatology departments of a hospital in Cali, and the government has declared a national disaster and sent soldiers to the area.
