On Thursday morning, two trains collided near the city of Ceske Budejovice, in the Czech Republic, injuring 42 people.

According to the spokesperson of the Czech ambulance service, Petra Kafkova, 40 of the injured suffered minor injuries, while two people were seriously injured. The accident was reported at 05:19 GMT. Martin Kavka, spokesperson for the railway operator Sprava zeleznic, confirmed that all passengers were safely evacuated from the trains, but did not provide details about the circumstances of the collision. An investigation has been launched to determine the causes of the accident.
