Colette Avital, a former Israeli parliamentarian and diplomat of Romanian origin, was injured during an anti-government demonstration that took place Saturday evening in Habima Square in Tel Aviv. Avital, at the age of 86 and a Holocaust survivor, was pushed to the ground by a police officer, suffering a head injury.

The incident sparked outrage among opposition leaders, including Yair Lapid, who criticized the lack of official apologies from the police. The protest gathered over a thousand people who demanded an end to the war waged by Israel against Iran and Hezbollah in Lebanon, chanting messages against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Clashes with law enforcement led to injuries and the detention of 17 people. Avital, a prominent figure in Israeli diplomacy, held important positions, including ambassador to Portugal and consul general in New York.
