The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that the atmosphere surrounding interpersonal exchanges has deteriorated, putting the safety of Chinese citizens in Japan at risk. A call was also issued for Chinese citizens to remain vigilant and to be aware of the law and order situation. Statements by the Japanese Prime Minister, who claimed that a Chinese attack on Taiwan could justify the intervention of Japanese self-defense forces, were rejected by Beijing, which warned Tokyo that any attempt to intervene in the national reunification process is doomed to failure. Chinese tourists make up a significant portion of visitors to Japan, with approximately 7.49 million visitors from China in the first nine months of the year.
