A Chinese diplomat stated that China will react if the European Union does not make significant changes to the legislative projects regarding the industry and cybersecurity. The Ministry of Commerce in Beijing described the EU proposals as discriminatory and contrary to the rules of the World Trade Organization, warning that they affect trade relations between China and the EU. The anonymous diplomat accused Brussels of applying "double standards" and mentioned that Beijing has sent letters to the European Commission requesting the removal of certain provisions. The new cybersecurity regulations aim to eliminate equipment from suppliers considered "high risk," a measure contested by Huawei. Additionally, the European industry stimulation project imposes restrictive requirements regarding product origin and carbon emissions, which China considers unacceptable.
