Zhang Xiaogang, the spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Defense, stated that the management of separatist forces in Taiwan is an internal issue for China, with no tolerance for external interference. In December 2025, China conducted live-fire military exercises around Taiwan, called 'Mission for Justice 2025', which Taipei considers military intimidation. Beijing claims Taiwan as part of its territory and does not rule out the use of force to prevent the island's independence. Recent military exercises, involving frigates, aircraft, and drones, are described as a warning against separatist forces. China emphasized that any attempt to stop unification with Taiwan is doomed to failure and warned that external interventions will lead to a dangerous situation in the Taiwan Strait.
