According to a Reuters investigation, China is secretly shipping engines to Russia as 'industrial cooling units' to support IEMZ Kupol's production of Garpiya-A1 drones. These drones are being used in the war in Ukraine, and Kupol has a contract with the Russian Ministry of Defense to produce more than 6,000 drones by 2025. Despite the sanctions imposed, Russia continues to use around 500 drones monthly for strikes. A new Chinese firm, Beijing Xichao International Technology and Trade, has started supplying the necessary engines, replacing the manufacturer Xiamen Limbach Aviation Engine Co.
