China has announced that it will take 'all necessary measures' to counteract attempts at espionage from abroad, following the CIA's release of a video in Mandarin aimed at recruiting Chinese officials.

The video, which was posted on the CIA's YouTube channel, features a fictional Chinese official who decides to contact the American agency, expressing dissatisfaction with Chinese leaders. Beijing reacted quickly, emphasizing that it will defend the country's sovereignty and security.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian stated that hostile forces will not succeed in achieving their objectives. The release of the video comes amid rising tensions between Washington and Beijing, marked by mutual accusations of espionage and strategic rivalry. This is a continuation of the CIA's efforts to recruit Chinese officials, initiatives that have been announced in the past.
