China is organizing military exercises around Taiwan.

The exercises took place after Beijing expressed its dissatisfaction with the U.S. arms sales to the region and after the statement by Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, who said that her military could intervene if China took action against Taiwan, the autonomous island that the world's second-largest economy claims it must control. However, the Chinese military did not mention the United States and Japan in its statement on Monday morning.
