At least two companies, including the American giant Chevron, are in competition to acquire Lukoil's international assets, despite an initial agreement with the American fund Carlyle. The U.S. Treasury previously blocked two attempts by Lukoil to sell its assets, and the company has until February 28, 2026, to complete the sale. Negotiations are ongoing, and Carlyle is evaluating Lukoil's assets, but the situation remains fluid. Lukoil's portfolio, valued at approximately $22 billion, has also attracted interest from investors in the United Arab Emirates, who are discussing possible partnerships with Carlyle. The final agreement must be approved by OFAC and the Russian authorities.
