India and Canada have agreed on several agreements, particularly regarding critical minerals and uranium supply.

Canada and India have signed a 10-year uranium supply agreement during a meeting between Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi. Carney stated that his visit marks the beginning of a new era of partnership, following a period of diplomatic tensions caused by allegations that Indian agents were involved in the assassination of a Sikh separatist.

The agreement, worth $1.9 billion, will ensure a long-term supply of uranium to India, essential for the expansion of the Indian nuclear sector, which aims to increase its nuclear power production capacity. India, which produces approximately 600 tons of uranium annually, is facing rising demand, estimated to exceed 1,800 tons. Additionally, India is looking to diversify its energy sources and ensure long-term supply in the context of global energy market volatility.
