The European Commission has announced a package of measures to mitigate the effects of the energy crisis caused by the conflict in the Middle East, which has cost Europeans over 22 billion euros in additional fuel imports. Among Brussels' proposals are the imposition of a teleworking day per week, reducing public transport costs, and closing public buildings where possible. Although prices have risen due to the conflict, the Commission emphasizes that there is no immediate threat to supply security.

The measures include energy vouchers for vulnerable households, reductions in electricity excise duties, and temporary bans on disconnecting consumers. The Commission reaffirms its commitment to the transition to a clean energy system and proposes tax incentives for the rapid implementation of renewable energy solutions. President Ursula von der Leyen will present the details of the package next week.
