The meeting in Rio de Janeiro aims to draft a joint declaration by the BRICS group, which now includes six new nations. The Brazilian ambassador emphasized that the declaration will reaffirm criticism of unilateral measures in trade, a consistent position of the BRICS countries. China, hurt by US-imposed tariffs, has called for a firmer tone, but expects the final text to be critical without generating conflict.
