In the context of the World Cup final between Spain and Argentina, striker Borja Iglesias admitted that he has resigned himself to shake hands with American President Donald Trump, in order to avoid any potential legal consequences.

Iglesias, known for his political commitment and positions against racism and homophobia, stated that it is not the time to stir up controversies, emphasizing that he will respect FIFA's protocol, which includes Trump's presence at the ceremony. The 33-year-old player from Celta Vigo mentioned that he hopes the meeting will be quick and will not affect the festive atmosphere. Iglesias has been vocal in the past against scandals in Spanish football, including in the case of former president of the Spanish Football Federation, Luis Rubiales. He has also supported pro-Palestinian demonstrations, thus demonstrating his commitment to social causes.
