The peace agreement, brokered by the Trump administration, establishes cooperation between two African countries in areas such as energy, infrastructure and public health, with the aim of attracting Western investment. Before the formal signing, investors and civil society representatives will be consulted. The states reaffirmed their sovereign right over mineral resources and agreed to interconnect new infrastructure to counter China's influence, as well as to combat the mineral trade used to fund paramilitary groups.
