Berlin-Brandenburg International Airport (BER) will remain closed on Friday due to ice and freezing rain, which continue to affect flight conditions.
The airport's spokesperson stated that, despite the efforts of ground crews to treat the runways with de-icing liquid overnight, the surfaces remain extremely slippery, making takeoffs and landings impossible.
The airport was inaugurated in 2020, after a series of delays, and handled over 19 million passengers in its first year of operation.
