Bergamo was badly hit by a blackout that lasted from 4pm until 10:46pm, leaving offices, shops and homes without electricity. The Enel company explained that the faults were caused by extreme heat, which overheated underground electricity pipes. The police managed traffic due to non-functioning traffic lights and emergency systems were activated at the town hall. Emergency intervention included the installation of a temporary cable. The emergency ended before 23:00, restoring normality to the city.
