The Japanese publication Yomiuri Shimbun reported that Beijing has used artificial intelligence (AI) technology to intervene in foreign elections, particularly in Taiwan. The National Security Institute of Vanderbilt University obtained nearly 400 pages of documents from GoLaxy, a company with government ties, which has conducted sophisticated propaganda campaigns in Hong Kong and Taiwan.

GoLaxy analyzes psychological trends and creates fictional characters that spread disinformation and interact with the public. The company has denied involvement in election-related activities.
