The President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, has decided to completely withdraw diplomatic personnel from Iran, following a drone attack on the exclave of Nakhchivan.

Ilham Aliyev announced the total withdrawal of diplomatic personnel from Iran, including from the embassy in Tehran and the consulate in Tabriz, following a drone attack on the Azerbaijani exclave of Nakhchivan. The Azerbaijani foreign minister, Jeihun Bairamov, emphasized that this decision is motivated by security considerations.

Azerbaijan also presented a note of protest to the Iranian authorities, and Aliyev described the attack as a "terrorist act," putting the armed forces on alert. Iran denied any involvement in the attack, accusing Israel of being responsible for the incident. Tehran promised a detailed investigation of the attack, and Bairamov expects quick results.

This tense situation reflects the complexity of relations between the two countries, considering that millions of ethnic Azerbaijanis live in Iran.
