The President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, accused Iran of terrorism after a drone attack injured four people in the Nakhchivan exclave. Aliyev stated that the attack was a terrorist act by Iran and ordered the preparation of retaliatory measures.
The Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense stated that the attacks will not go unanswered and that they are investigating the types of drones used. Despite the accusations, Iran denied involvement, claiming that it does not attack neighboring countries.
The incident has heightened existing tensions between Azerbaijan and Iran, in the context of Azerbaijan's close relations with Turkey and Israel. Damage from the drones was reported at Nakhchivan International Airport, and four injured individuals were transported to the hospital, in stable condition.
