Wolfgang Hattmannsdorfer, the Austrian Minister of Economy, warned that Europe could feel, starting next month, a decrease in fuel deliveries, amid the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial route for the transport of approximately 20% of the world's oil and natural gas.

Although there is currently no supply deficit, prices for oil and gas are rising, and airports are expecting a possible shortage of kerosene. The official estimated a reduction in diesel deliveries by 5% and kerosene by 15%, which could lead to price increases.

Austria has sufficient strategic reserves for about 90 days and is preparing for possible emergency measures. In this context, Parliament approved the release of 325,000 tons of oil to stabilize the market.

At the same time, the government is closely monitoring the company OMV to prevent unjustified profit increases. The minister also emphasized the need for energy savings, while authorities maintain price caps on fuel to limit the impact on inflation.
