Australian Defense Minister Pat Conroy has said Australia will not make prior commitments in the event of a conflict with China over Taiwan, amid US demands. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese emphasized Australia's desire to maintain peace in the region as the Pentagon seeks assurances from its allies on how to respond in the event of conflict in the Indo-Pacific. Australia will decide according to the circumstances at the time.
