The Australian government has decided to include YouTube in its ban restricting under-16s' access to social networks from December. Although teenagers will be able to watch videos, they will not be able to have accounts. Premier Anthony Albanese has stressed that social networking can harm children and the e-Safety Commissioner has recommended the measure. Companies that fail to comply with the ban risk significant fines. Exceptions apply to educational and health apps.
