Australia and Indonesia have reached an agreement for a bilateral security and defense cooperation treaty, aimed at strengthening strategic dialogue and enhancing relations between the two neighboring states. Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese announced that the treaty will involve periodic consultations at the leader and ministerial levels on security issues.
Albanese expressed the intention to travel to Indonesia in January for the official signing of the treaty, after the completion of internal ratification procedures. Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto emphasized the importance of good neighborly relations, stating that mutual assistance is essential in difficult times.
