A drone struck the tanker "Energos Winter," owned by an American company, in the Egyptian port of Damietta, causing a fire that spread to another vessel, "Gaslog Salem."
The incident was reported by the British maritime security firm Ambrey, which assessed the attack as a possible escalation of the conflict in the Middle East.
The Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum confirmed the outbreak of the fire but did not mention the drone attack.
The fire was quickly extinguished by response teams, and the Minister of Petroleum, Karim Badawi, was present at the scene to oversee operations. Fortunately, there were no injuries or casualties, and teams continue to assess the impact of the incident.
"Energos Winter" is a floating storage and regasification unit with a capacity of 138,250 cubic meters.
