A man armed with an axe and a knife took 14 passengers and a train driver hostage in Switzerland. The man was shot dead by police.

A gunman has taken 15 people hostage on a train in western Switzerland. He was identified as a 32-year-old Iranian 'asylum seeker'. He was later shot dead by a policeman as he quickly charged at him with an axe. The hostages were released unharmed.
