An 18-year-old gunman opened fire in a high school in Turkey, injuring at least 16 people.

A shooting took place in a technical high school in Siverek, Turkey, where an 18-year-old, armed with a hunting rifle, randomly shot, injuring at least 16 people. According to the governor of Sanliurfa province, Hasan Sildak, the attacker later committed suicide with the same weapon.

A teacher among the injured is in serious condition, according to reports from NTV television. The motive for the attack remains unclear, and such incidents are rare in Turkey.

The special police unit was mobilized after the attacker refused to surrender, and staff and students were evacuated from the building. Video footage captured dozens of students fleeing from the school to the gate and into the street, in search of safety. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances of this tragic incident.
