The state oil giant of Saudi Arabia, Aramco, has shut down the Ras Tanura refinery following a drone attack, according to an industry source. This complex, located on the coast of the Saudi Gulf, is one of the largest refineries in the Middle East, with a capacity of 550,000 barrels per day and being an essential terminal for oil exports. The closure of the refinery was a precautionary measure, and the source mentioned that the situation is under control.

The drone attack is part of a series of recent attacks in the region, which have also affected other major cities in the Persian Gulf. These attacks have led to a significant increase in Brent crude prices, by about 10%. Energy facilities in Saudi Arabia have been targeted previously, including in 2019, when similar attacks significantly disrupted the kingdom's oil production.
