Moldovan businessman Veaceslav Platon contested, in front of a court in London, the extradition request made by the authorities from the Republic of Moldova, claiming that the case against him has political motivations. Accused of being part of a money laundering network worth 22 billion dollars, Platon asserts that he is targeted for his influence in the financial sector, while Moldovan prosecutors reject the allegations and claim that the criminal prosecution is based on evidence regarding alleged crimes. The hearing will continue in August, and the trial will resume in November.
