The American military carried out an attack on a ship suspected of being involved in drug trafficking in the eastern Pacific, resulting in the death of two men. The American military command for Latin America and the Caribbean (SOUTHCOM) announced that the ship was operated by designated terrorist organizations and was traveling on routes known for drug trafficking.
This action is part of a controversial anti-drug campaign that began in September last year and has led to at least 182 deaths, according to an AFP tally. Although American military officials have claimed responsibility for several attacks, the Trump administration has not presented conclusive evidence regarding the involvement of the targeted ships in illegal activities.
Experts and UN officials have criticized these actions, considering them extrajudicial killings.
