Zoox, an Amazon-owned company, has opened a dedicated robotaxi manufacturing plant in Hayward, California, with a capacity of more than 10,000 vehicles annually. The company is already testing 20 robotaxis in the US and plans to launch a commercial service in Las Vegas, followed by San Francisco. Unlike Waymo and Tesla, Zoox's robotaxis are designed exclusively for autonomous driving, with no steering wheel or pedals. The industry faces challenges such as strict regulations and high costs.
