Amazon has decided to abandon its plans for drone delivery of goods in Italy, despite progress made with the aerospace regulatory authorities. The Italian Civil Aviation Authority, ENAC, has described this decision as unexpected, noting that the reasons include the company's policy and recent financial events.

Although Amazon has completed successful initial tests in San Salvo, the commercial regulatory framework in Italy currently does not support the company's long-term objectives for this program. In contrast, drone deliveries in the USA and the UK continue to make progress. Amazon emphasizes its commitment to the Italian market, mentioning investments of over 25 billion euros and 19,000 employees in the country.
