The Ukrainian state commissioner for missing persons, Artur Dobroserdov, stated that approximately 90,000 Ukrainians have been reported missing since the beginning of the war with Russia, the majority being military personnel. Among them, many are considered deceased, but there are also prisoners of war or deserters. President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that around 7,000 Ukrainian soldiers are prisoners in Russia, while Ukraine holds about 4,000 Russian soldiers.
Estimates regarding human losses vary, with Zelensky recently mentioning 55,000 Ukrainian deaths, in contrast to American estimates that indicated 70,000. A former advisor to Zelensky put the number of military deaths at 200,000, while sources from Ukrainian intelligence suggested 60,000 dead and 30,000 missing. These figures highlight the complexity and severity of the situation in Ukraine.
