The International Organization for Migration has reported that 449,218 Afghans left Iran between June 1 and July 5 as Tehran's deadline for undocumented migrants to leave expired. The total number of those who left in 2025 is 906,326. Pressure from the Iranian authorities, including arrests and expulsions, has contributed to this massive flow. The UN warns that this migration could destabilize Afghanistan, already plagued by poverty and unemployment, and urges against forced expulsions.
